What does a health coach DO?
Health coaches use an evidence based person-centered approach. They facilitate the behavioural change process through assisting people to use their own insights personal strengths and resources to achieve their goals. A health coach acts as a support and a partner rather than a director.
What does a health coach NOT do?
Health coaches do not diagnose conditions, prescribe treatments, interpret medical data. Nor do they create meal plans or recommend supplements, create exercise plans or provide psychological therapeutic interventions.
Who can benefit from seeing a health coach?
We believe that anyone and everyone could benefit from seeing a health coach. Especially those who are looking to improve their well-being and explore changes to their lifestyle in the areas of exercise, nutrition, sleep, and stress management.
Is this service covered by insurance?
Unfortunately, no. Health coaching is not covered on insurance plans. Some employers offer a "Wellness Spending Account" that may reimburse you for this service. Please double check with your company as it can differ.
How often is this service recommended?
Everything is variable and depends on your individual needs and personal goals. Typically people benefit from regular sessions such as weekly or bi-weekly, while others may find a monthly check in works best for them.
